STSM

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) are exchange visits between researchers involved in the COST Action, allowing scientists to visit an institution or laboratory in another COST country. They are aimed at fostering collaboration, sharing new techniques and infrastructure that may not be available in other participants' institutions or laboratories. STSM are intended especially for young researchers.

The STSM applicant must be engaged in an official research programme as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow or can be employed by, or affiliated to, an institution, organisation or legal entity which has within its remit a clear association with performing research.

An e-COST profile is required to apply. Once logged into your e-COST profile you will need:

  • to fill an on-line form with a short motivation, and the data of the host institution,
  • to upload a letter of support from the home institution,
  • to upload a written agreement from the host institution that the STSM applicant can perform the activities detailed in the STSM work plan on the agreed dates,
  • to provide a CV, in case you do not have it at your e-COST profile.

As guideline, please consult the STSM_userguide.pdf

The grantee should upload the scientific report within 30 days from the end of the mission by using this template, together with the host approval of the report.

Publications made as a result of STSM should include the following in the acknowledgements:
